Shattered Dreams

Happy and joyful, child like assuming world is colourful. Watching the clear blue sky in cool breeze with the fragrance of flowers so sweet. The girl dreamt about her future, hoping everything will be as she wanted.

Cruelty laid eyes on her and the monsters squeezed her and ripped her for their dirty thirst. Shattered her hopes and shattered her dreams, cruelty sank her into venom.
Violence struck her, the fragrance replaced by cynical acrid and blue sky giving away daunting darkness, inhumanity made her insane and the brutality shattered here dreams.Suffering became her only soul mate and sadness anguished her.

To all men on earth, RAPE is an ugly act to impose on women and children. Protest against sexual extortion and harassment. Raise voice against sexual assault, protest for justice.   We need to stand up and speak. Let every woman to enjoy her independence. Never touch women without her consent.  Be a Man not a Rapist.

Refreshing junket to Sri Mahaganapathi Kshetra – Southadka

It was an unplanned journey to Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala. We packed or luggage and started Saturday morning 6:00 AM from Bangalore, by our own vehicle, as it is some 6 to 7 hours journey from Bangalore to Sri Kshetra we left early morning so that we can cross Bangalore before the 'traffic' jams us. :-)

Journey from Sakaleshpura to Southadka
Our journey started from whitefield in a cool dusky climate of Bangalore, via Hebbal crossed Nelmangala and on NH 48 reached Hassan. After a good refreshing breakfast at Kamath hotel, started journey to Sakaleshpura ... Sakaleshpura, one of the beautiful places with coffee and pepper plantations, you just step in and you feel the essence of nature.

Our unplanned journey was in a beautiful season, I have never visited any Malnad regions during this season (had visited Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala many times, but only in summer). The heavy Downpour of Monsoon rains had just stopped and everywhere different shades of green. It was as though mountains were wearing green designer saree and flaunting their beauty.
Small streams of waterfalls frequently wishing good morning ... the tender sunrays playing hide and seek between mountains and clouds and different green shades of herbs and shrubs. An amazing site to witness. Mosses formed on rocks and footpaths due to heavy rain were so beautiful to see when the tender sun rays fell on them. It was so relaxing to mind, as though you have meditated for an hour to get rid of tensions. My mind was filled with joy. :-)

The only drawback was the potholes on road caused due to rain and as its ghat section, driving on that road was a big hurdle, but the beauty of nature dominated the stress of this hurdle.

Southadka
It’s a Mahaganapathi Temple on the way to Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala. Might be 20Kms from Sri Kshetra, It was the first time we visited this place. Quite interesting place. Actually there is no temple built for idol, i.e., Mahaganapathi is kept in open air for darshana.
By the time we reached there, it started raining cats and dogs. For our amusement puja was offered to god, though it was raining and god was drenching in rain.
Mahaganapathi is so generous, he wished not to build temple as it will impose restrictions to his devotees, he wished to remain in open air and bless his devotee. The farmers nearby prayed to Ganpathi for good harvest and offered cucumber as cucumber were grown in plenty. And hence this place is called Southadka (southe means Cucumber).
Mahaganapathi is decorated with vegetables and vegetables are offered during pujas. Temple is very neatly maintained, there are bells tied either side in an array by devotees which is a great attraction. Free food is served to all devotees after puja. The abode of Mahaganpath is so divine and peaceful as there is not chaos. The serene place around surrounding hills for sure refreshes.

After seeking blessings from Ganapa and filling tummy with prasadm, our  journey continued to Sri Kshetra.
Never miss visiting Southadka if you are planning to visit Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.
